Delegation of the Shan State Progressive Party/ Shan State Army led by its vice-chair Sao Khae Taine arrived in Naypyidaw today (August 3) to discuss peace with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The SSPP delegation will meet with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing tomorrow (August 4) at Bayint Naung Avenue in Naypyidaw.
In the previous June, military tension occurred between Tatmadaw and the SSPP troops. Tatmadaw demanded the SSPP withdraw three military bases that took footholds in Monghsu’s Loinai Village.
The delegation team led by National Unity and Peacemaking Coordination Committee’s chair Lieutenant General Yar Pyae and the SSPP’s Sao Khae Taine delegation met and negotiated on July 14 in Mongnawng located in Southern Shan State following the arisen military tension between the two sides.
The Army Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing invited the leaders of the EAOs in April 2022 for peace.
Currently, a total of nine ethnic armed forces including RCSS/SSA, NMSP, KNU/KNLA-PC, UWSP/UWSA, NDAA, ALP, PNLO, LDU, and DKBA have separately met with the SAC Chair. Necessary preparations are being conducted between the government and the peace-attended EAOs for the second time peace talk.
Additionally, it is reported that the government invites some EAOs that do not mention names since those EAOs expressed willingness to discuss with the government for peace.
