Myanmar carries railroad linkages through China, India, Thailand

Union Minister for Transport and Communication Admiral Tin Aung San said that construction of the railway link under the International Railway Network is being carried out between China, India and Thailand.
The Union Minister underlined it during the recent forum between Ministers of Transport from both Russia and Myanmar.
“Myanmar is geographically located at the focal point of the region and its geographical advantages can create promising opportunities for foreign investment and other related fields. Under the project of the International Railway Network, the railway links with China, India and Thailand will be included”, he said.
The Trilateral Highway network between #Asia_Highway, #ASEAN_Highway and India-Myanmar-Thai are under implementation processes for a better highway network.
Negotiations are ongoing for the implementation of the Muse-Mandalay New Railroad Project which is embedded with the construction of more than 100 bridges along the railroad route, according to the statistics from the #Myanma_Railway.
The construction of the abovementioned new railroad plan is projected to cost approximately 8.9 billion USD and it will be instrumented for the flow of goods and commodities from Muse, China-Myanmar border Mandalay. The new Railroad Project is a part of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
Myanmar introduced the public railroad service in 1877 and there were altogether 1924 rail miles and 476 railway stations before her independence in 1948.
After her independence, from 1948 to 1988, 54 miles of railroad and eleven more railway stations were extended.
After 1988, another 1822 rail miles and 473 railway stations were extended. According to the data and statistics from Myanmar Railway Department, there are more than 3800 rail miles and 960 railway stations in Myanmar.
