The #Kyaiktiyo_Pagoda, also known as the #Golden_Rock, hosted more than 40 thousand either domestic or foreign visitors within two months after the deadly shooting occurred on October 12.
Foreign visitors are mostly from Thailand, America, and China.
A total of 33057 internal pilgrims and 85 visitors in October; 11362 internal pilgrims and 193 foreigners visited in November; chairman of the Pagoda Board of Trustee Soe Hla told NP news.
“For the accommodation, Kyeik Hto Hotel and Yoe Yoe Lay Hotel have been operating since Thadingyut (Myanmar Lighting Festival which falls on at the end of October). Other inns and restaurants are also opened and full facilities are also provided there. We would like to invite the pilgrims not only to pay homage to the pagoda but also to relax because the armed conflict tensions are now reducing in the area,” he said.
Approximately 900 pilgrims pay a visit to the pagoda on daily basis in December.
