Non-ethnic but insurgent group #ARSA, known as Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, threatens Myanmar civilians in northern part of #Rakhine State as they intend to get the right to ownership of land after immediate possession via force of arms, Home Affairs Minister said.

The #Anti_Terrorism_Central_Committee meeting was held at the headquarters of Myanmar Police Force (MPF) in Naypyidaw on December 23.

The Union Minister for Home Affairs Ministry, as well as the Chief of Polices, Lieutenant General Soe Htut underlined it.

The ARSA is regarded as a terrorist group by the Anti-Terrorism Central Committee as it threatens Myanmar civilians in northern Rakhine because they aim to possess lands in it in aspect of racial and religious interests.

Action plans for 2023 for counter-terrorism mechanisms; promoting rule of law; and ensuring safety for the public were discussed and presented. Uplifting skills and competencies of the security forces is another priority to be carried out in 2023, the meeting discussed.

Lieutenant General Soe Htut also urged to formulate appropriate measures to prevent possible terror plots in 2023; and to detect early leads of the terror stories.
