Train blasted in Thaton delaying Yangon-Mawlamyaine travel schedules

A cargo train that carried stones exploded in Thaton, Mon State on January 2 at an estimated 7 am, which in turn, delayed the Yangon-Mawlamyaine travel schedules.

The train started from Zin Kyain Station located in Paung Township. It was bombed up on the way between Paung-Ancient Bago City near Mile Post No. 141 of the railroad by #PDFs and its allied forces, according to the State Administration Council announcement.

Due to the damage to the railroad, travel schedules between Yangon and Mawlamyine were temporarily suspended and passengers were facing many difficulties.

Authorities are carrying out repair works for the damaged parts of the railroad and the train.

In recent months, a cargo train running between Mawlamyaing and Yangon was bombed.
