Assessment of Heavy Metal Contamination in Soil and Water for Safety Crop Production will be carried out in Myanmar as part of the #Mekong_ROKCF (Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund).

Meeting for conducting the assessment project was held in Naypyidaw on March 4 at Amara Hotel.

The Project was proposed by the Department of Land Utilization under Agricultural Department aiming to bring more benefits for consumers and the agricultural industry.

The proposed project was selected by the Fourth Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund to be able to conduct survey on the metals dissolved in soil and water for agricultural and food safety in Myanmar.

Under this project, drained and discharged water from industries and factories; chemicals from the mining industries; and excessive use of unlimited agricultural inputs will be assessed.

The test results will be used in mapping for the disaster prevention activities; disaster prevention mechanisms; and exchanging information with the regional countries.
