Hsu / Pearl (NP News) - Mar 10

Due to the sabotage on gas pipelines in Bilin Township in Mon State, explosion broke out and it effects the #electricity_distribution, according to the announcement released by Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) on March 9.

YESC stated that the Jotika-Kapauk-Myinkale-Yangon gas pipeline was exploded in Bilin Township at an estimated 4:30 am on March 8.

The electric power feeding into the national power grid from Hlaw Kar Natural Gas Power Plant was reduced up to 55 megawatts as the result of the abovementioned terrorist act; and the YESC plans to fill up the power shortage to electricity at the time being of matriculation exam period.

“For the time being, the important and life turning matriculation examinations for students are currently being held countrywide. Therefore, to compensate the reduced megawatts, the electricity from hydropower stations will be substituted for the sake of the exam candidates” YESC announced.

When the matriculation examinations are finished, the industrial zones will be distributed the regular electric power as usual, according to the YESC.
