Lisu Party and Tai-Leng Party submit for party registrations at UEC

Two ethnic parties namely Lisu National Development Party (LNDP) and Tai-Leng Nationalities Development Party (TNDP) submitted the applications for party registrations at the Union Election Commission as per Section 25 of the recently imposed #Political_Parties_Registration_Law on March 8, according to the UEC announcement.

The LNDP (Lisu Party) registered for party establishment in August 2013 as per the former law; and organized as an official political party in December 2023. It has approximately 50,000 members. The LNDP contested in 2015 General Election in Kachin State, Shan State, Mandalay Region and Kayah State constituencies.

Tai-Leng Nationalities Development Party (TNDP) was approved registration in May 2015 with more than 3500 party members. It contested in eight constituencies in Kachin State and four constituencies in Sagaing Region in the 2015 General Election.

As per the newly imposed Political Parties Registration Law, the political parties have sixty days commencing on 1st February to submit the applications for party establishment and party registration renewing. Therefore, there are 24 days left counting from 10th March.

There has been a total of 19 political parties as of 10th March that have submitted their applications at the UEC as per Section 3 and Section 25 of the newly imposed law.
