Hsu / Myo Gyi (NP News) – May 31

Thanks to the mediation raised by China, three allied ethnic armed organizations including Arakan Army, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army are going to meet with the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) on 1st June.

According to a reliable source close to three allied EAOs, the meeting is expected to be held in Mongla from Special Region (4) of Eastern Shan State on 1st June.

The three allied EAOs is organized by Myanmar National Truth and Justice Party/ Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNTJP/MNDAA), the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) and the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA).

According to the source, the delegates of the three allied EAOs have already arrived in Mongla on 30th May to attend the peace talk.

The peace talk will be conducted at the meeting thanks to facilitation by China. Mr Kaw Paung, the Special Diplomat for the Foreign Affairs (Yunnan Province) from China will reportedly attend the meeting.

Former parliamentarian Ye Tun remarked that related objectives and missions that those stakeholders expected can be implemented through this peace talk with the mediation of China.

China shows its vivid willingness for Myanma’s stability and development and very supportive for Myanmar’s peace unlike the western bloc, especially relating to the peace process of Myanmar.

Ye Tun commented that “the involvement of China is supportive to highlight the point that who is really thirst for peace and who isn’t and who has rigid perspectives and not flexible. If there is no China’s involvement in discussion, it would be hard to say which side is fair and which is not. therefore, I see the role of China is important for leveraging the peace talk.”

However, there has been no official announcement from the NSPNC relating to the upcoming peace talk with those three allied EAOs.

There were armed conflicts between the Myanmar Military and all three those EAOs in 2022.
