Myanmar authorities invite foreign experts for technical support in taking census

A proposal for an international consultant has been opened by the Ministry of Immigration and Population to perform the operations of mapping and enumeration area delineation using the GIS technology for the 2024 Population and Housing Census.

The proposals shall be submitted by 14th July to the ministry.

The ministry said that the aim of appointing an International Consultant (GIS)/Technical Advisor is to provide technical assistance for the Census mapping and structure listing processes. These processes serve as the foundational backbone to complete the Census, which is scheduled to take place in 2024.

It is also stated that the international consultant has to conduct monitoring visits in the States/Regions and observe the urban Census Unit (CU) delineation process, working closely with officials from the Department of Population (DOP).

Based on the urban and rural Census Units, the international consultant has to implement mapping and enumeration area delineation operations for the whole nation. In addition, the consultant has to perform other duties such as updating the Geo Database, providing technical advice, and conducting the capacity enhancement training are also stated.

After signing the contract, the consultant’s term of service will be started from 2023 September up to 2024 March.

More important is that the international consultant has to abide by all applicable state laws, including the Myanmar Official Secrets Act.

On the breach of the law, the consultant will be prosecuted for any offense committed.
