Deputy Minister urges to promote Macadamia productivity

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut urged to increase the productivity of Macadamia which takes a large share in exports of Myanmar products.

He addressed it during the meeting of the ministry that was held in Naypyidaw on 13th September.

The deputy minister desired to increase the nutritious and good-for-health Macadamia since it can also be used in chocolate, snake, and edible oil production.

Necessary research and land use rules and regulations should be supported by the respective ministry and department, he commented.

Macadamia is mostly cultivated in Kachin, Chin, and Mandalay in Myanmar. It has been extended more 12,000 acres of cultivation in 2022-23 FY during which a total of 2107 tons of green fruits.

Macadamia is grown in Myanmar by the MSME sector on a commercial scale. Since 2014-15, it has been exporting especially to the neighbouring countries.
