The National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) discussed on holding election in territories where armed organizations exist.

NSPNC led by Lt. Gen. Min Naing met with the RCSS led by Secretary-1 Sao Sai Ngin on September 21.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed matters related to the successful holding of a free and fair multi-party democratic general election in the areas where ethnic armed organizations are located, as well as the provision of humanitarian aid, according to the State Administration Council (SAC).

The SAC’s Chairman, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, has promised to re-hold the general election, and it has been revealed that the election will be held only after the 2024 census.

In addition, it is reported that NSPNC and RCSS discussed the articles that should be amended in the 2008 Constitution and the regional development and economic needs.

The RCSS, a Shan ethnic armed group, will resolve conflicts through peaceful means based on the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), according to the RCSS announcement.
