UEC to perform voting machine orientations to Yangon residents despite challenges and threats

Based on information from the Union Election Commission, the orientation on the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) took place in Yangon Region. On 4 December, the orientations were carried out in Insein, South Okkalarpa, Kyauktada and Thanlynn townships where local voters participated in observation.

As per the UEC, a total of 1,452 individuals from these four townships have reportedly undergone testing on the voting procedures.

Furthermore, the UEC has announced to hold the orientation on the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) in 45 townships across Yangon Region to facilitate voter participation in the election.

The Chairman of Arakan Front Party Dr. Aye Maung remarks, “Of course it’s good that introduction program to the MEVM is made to the public, it is also necessary to review and assess the voters’ interest in the election.”

Orientation sessions for the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) have been reportedly conducted at the ministries in Naypyidaw.

It is also reported that voters in Naypyitaw have also undergone testing and cast their votes using the MEVM machine.
