Many companies and families in Yangon are looking to purchase solar panels and generators, according to an exhibition held at the Yangon Convention Center (Inya Lake Hotel).
There is also concern among the public in Yangon, Myanmar's most populous city, after the Ministry of Electric Power released a statement that power outages would be extended.
Therefore, an exhibition was organized for the sale of solar panels, batteries, invertors and generators, according to an exhibition organizer.
“Not all solar and generator companies in Myanmar are here, but more than half of them are here to exhibit and sell. There are over a hundred companies in total,” said the lead organizer of the exhibition.
In the exhibition, most local companies participated and the most products are from China and India.
Most of the goods sold at the exhibition are foreign products, and local products are said to have low interest among Yangon residents due to their low quality.
“Myanmar distributors are trying to sell low-grading the products we produce. They don’t care about the brand name. Those products have a good reputation internationally but their reputation in Myanmar has been ruined, so we have to come here to sell ourselves,” said a representative of a Chinese battery company.
The exhibition shows that in Yangon, Myanmar's most populous city, electricity is not provided on time, making lighting difficult for the elderly and students studying.
The visitors, including breadwinners of the families, company owners, and factory owners, reported that there was no place to park their cars who came to the exhibition.
“The exhibition was held from 10 to 12 January for three days. Lucky draws program was also included,” the organizer of the exhibition said.
Due to the lack of high-quality products and technical requirements of the domestically produced products, Yangon residents are relying on solar panels, inverters, and generators to provide light for their socio-lives.
