The Border Guard Force (BGF) of Kayin State, led by Colonel Saw Chit Thu, has denied its position of involvement in the online scam trafficking network during its press conference on February 17.
The Kayin State BGF has only carried out urban development projects and hotels in Shwekokko area with the approval of the Investment Commission, and has not engaged in telecom frauds, said Colonel Saw Chit Thu, Secretary General of the Kayin BGF.
Colonel Saw Chit Thu stated that in 2018, urban development housing projects and hotels were carried out in the Shwekokko area with the approval of the Investment Commission, and he was not involved in any online scams. He claimed that he was framed by wrongdoers. Currently, efforts are underway to arrest the online scammers and those involved in the crimes, while rescuing the trapped individuals. The arrested persons will be systematically handed over to the Thai authorities.
Furthermore, regarding the Thai opposition party's request for an arrest warrant against him, Colonel Saw Chit Thu asked what crimes he had committed against Thailand and how he had rebelled against Thailand.
In addition, he responded the arrest warrant against him by saying that the victims of human trafficking did not fall from the sky, but crossed over from Thailand.
He said this in an interview with BBC, and asked under what section Thailand would issue an arrest warrant for him.
He said that effective action will be taken against drug trafficking along the Myanmar-Thailand border, and human trafficking and torture will not be tolerated at all.
At present, Myanmar, China, Thai and the governments of the Lancang-Mekong countries are working together to crack down on and eliminate those involved in the online scam business in Myawaddy, Shwekokko and KK Park. –
