Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) donated by India for the Myanmar earthquake arrived on two additional Navy ships and was received in a ceremony at Thilawa Port this evening (March 31).
India has already flown five humanitarian aid flights to Myanmar since the earthquake and has also sent experts to assist in the relief effort.
Subsequently, on March 31, the two Indian Navy ships, INS Satpura and INS Savitri, arrived at Thilawa Port carrying humanitarian aid. It is also reported that, including these two ships, a total of five shipments will be delivered by sea.
“Items included in the HADR assistance are ready-to-eat meals, tents, tarpaulin sheets, temporary shelters, medicines, food kits, rice, cooking oil, and other immediate assistance,” said Mr. Abhay Thakur, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, at the ceremony.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein stated that efforts will be made to ensure that aid and relief supplies reach the earthquake-stricken areas as soon as they arrive.
“I would like to emphasize that we will also take effective measures to assist the earthquake-stricken people,” said the Yangon Region Chief Minister.
