The Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA) Central Command Office (Sonseemyaing) issued a statement on September 11 stating that the upcoming general election is for electing people's representatives to reform the country’s future, and that it will support the people as much as possible.
The statement expressed the belief that the current conflicts in Myanmar could only be resolved through dialogue and negotiation rather than through military means.
Therefore, the DKBA Central Executive Committee announced that the current general election to be held by the State Security and Peace Commission is an election of people's representatives for reform with a future vision of the country, and that it will provide the people with the greatest possible support and assistance.
On September 3, the Central Advisory and Command Team of the Border Guard Force (Kayin State) announced its understanding of the importance of Myanmar's elections for the country's future towards democracy and creating a stable, peaceful and secure life for the people. The BGF fully supports Myanmar's elections and will work to ensure that elections in Kayin State are held in a stable, safe and fair manner and are inclusive.
Currently, Tatmadaw troops have reached and regained control of the Myawaddy Thingannyinaugg area, an important location on the Kawkareik-Myawaddy Asian Highway, and are carrying out area clearance work to restore normal use of the highway. –
