Khit / Myo Gyi (NP News) - April 24
The office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services (CINCDS) released a statement on April 22 evening demanding to cease attacking the military bases during the peace invitation period; otherwise, necessary actions and reactions will be inevitably taken by the Defense Services.
Tatmadaw has ceased firing one-sidedly till the end of 2022 in favouring the eternal peace for which the public has been dreaming.
The Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said in his speech two days ago, “I’ve already told that the year 2022 is regarded as the peace year for the country and we are going to make sure for the termination of the armed conflict. Upcoming independent day of the country which will fall on January 4, 2023 is the Diamond Jubilee anniversary of the country’s independence.”
On April 22, the Chief Commander invited the leaders of ethnic armed organizations to meet for an effective formulation of the peace process.
Therefore the office of the CINCDS issued a statement urging the EAOs not to conduct troop reinforcements and movements, and exploration of territories that will have negative impacts on the peace process; and not provoke the military bases and headquarters.
