Since February 2021, a total of 108 including Buddhist monks, nuns, and educational and health workers have been killed in Myanmar during the crisis, according to the data released by the State Administration Council.
The data is updated until August 8, 2022.
Amongst, 52 Buddhist monks and one nun were killed; most were murdered in Sagaing Region.
“Both sides are killing and bullying innocent people inhumanely. The incidents were committed by the Tatmadaw in the early period. Then, the revolutionists who claimed fighting back against the Tatmadaw kill people from different sides. Even Buddhist monks were killed by them. There are more than 50 monks killed by them. No one is dear to speak out on it,” Sayadaw U Sobhita (IBEC) from Sagaing said.
Also, a total of 45 educational workers, 25 male teachers and 20 female teachers were killed. What is more, teachers, students and schools are threatened by terrorists not to open schools or teach either by letters or in person.
From the health sector, three men and seven women, a total of ten health workers were killed in this crisis period.
Most murders occurred in Sagaing Region. Still, the murder rate is still increasing countrywide.
The IBEC Sayardaw urged all stakeholders to give up belligerence since all are the ethnics living on the same land so as to head towards the federal union with unity.
