Myanmar’s plan for electric vehicle will initiate with electric locomotives

The electric vehicle project appears to be started soon as the Ministry of Transport schemes to implement the operation of electric locomotives and electric buses as part of the whole project.
The relevant ministry has attained agreements with foreign investors to initiate the function of electric locomotives and electric buses, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on September 29 when he met with micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Nuclear energy is intended to be used in peaceful means including to apply in uplifting the following sectors: electricity, agriculture, education, and health, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
The initiating committee to lead the development of electric vehicles and related businesses has been established and chaired by General Mya Tun Oo. Five working committees were developed by the initiating committee for conducting plans into tactics.
“Currently the committee is preparing to issue instructions and directives with regard to the import as per standards and procedures. We have submitted proposals to the Myanmar Investment Commission to issue orders and notifications so as to prioritize the electric vehicles and related businesses in the investment,” said the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations.
The initiating committee will release soon related orders and notifications after scrutinizing the selected companies in line with provisions of the Myanmar Investment Law, according to the ministry.
The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations declared that investors of electric vehicles shall be granted revenue exemptions and income tax reliefs.
