Major General Zaw Min Tun, who is the Spokesperson of the Myanmar Defense Services as well as the Spokesperson of the State Administration Council, notified that the Defense Services solemnly pledges for the multi-party election and to build the Union based on democracy and federal values.

Major General Zaw Min Tun addressed it when he met the media at the sideline of the ceremony of the 78th Anniversary of #Myanmar_Armed_Forces_Day that was convened in Naypyidaw this morning.

Major General Zaw Min Tun said, “In fact, we can guarantee for two things. One, we pledge to convene the multiparty democratic system. Two, the political system shall be based on democracy and federal values.”

The Defense Services will never fail to accomplish those two visions, according to Zaw Min Tun.

The Spokesperson said, “We will never deviate from these two points,” continuing that “Therefore, the General Election is a must.”

According to the Constitutional provisos, more than 50 percent of Hluttaw attendance is required to call for the Hluttaw sessions at all Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyotha Hluttaw and State/Region Hluttaws. Therefore, the election has to be held at least more than half of the number of townships in each state and region.

Major General Zaw Min Tun also informed that the exact date of the upcoming election cannot be said at the current situation in an aspect of the security measures and concerns.

There have been thousands of civilians, civil administrators, departmental officers and staff across the country who were murdered brutally by the PDF terrorists as alleged informers (locally called Dalan) under the authority of so-called armed resistance, instead of fighting back the Defense Services.
