Airports and deep-sea port in Rakhine to be upgraded for tourism and business enhancements

Thandwe Airport, Sittwe Airport, and Kyaukphyu deep-sea port are projected to be innovated so as expecting to promote tourism and potential business projects.

The Chairperson of the State Administration Council (SAC) urged the relevant departments for upgrading the Thandwe Airport which hosts for bunches of arrivals and departures. Senior General expects the Thandwe Airport for landing jets.

He underlined it during his visit to Sittwe Airport on April 1 for reviewing the upgrading situations of Sittwe, Kyaukphyu and Thandwe airports.

Senior General desires to upgrade the infrastructures for domestic airlines as neighboring countries to assist the domestic tourism.

In addition, Sittwe Airport is the city airport of Rakhine State. Therefore, Senior General encouraged the relevant officers to prioritize upgrading and expanding the runway of the airport where A-320 and B-737 airplanes can land.

The Kyaukphyu Deep-Sea Port is expected to improve the port industries and trading in the near future.

There should be involved expanding runway at the Kyaukphyu Deep-Sea Port project so as to accept the cargo flights, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
