As the Indian Embassy in Yangon has been organizing a series of ‘Yoga’ exercise at different locations for celebrations in honor of the forthcoming 9th International Day of Yoga (IDY) that will fall on coming Wednesday, another session of Yoga practices has been held on Sunday at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center, Yangon.
It was organized by the Art of Living Myanmar Yoga Training Centre in collaboration with the Cultural Wing of the Indian Embassy in Myanmar.
This year marks the ninth for the IDY honouring the ancient Indian cultural practice as the day was developed in 2015 and globally appreciated it following the progress made by the United Nations in 2014.
With regard to the Indian-originated mental exercise ‘Yoga’, the Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar from Art of Living Myanmar remarks that “Yoga is not just some exercise. It is much more- it expands your awareness, sharpens your intellect, and enhances your intuitive ability.”
As per the schedule developed by the Indian Embassy for the celebrations of the upcoming 9th IDY, the very first event was conducted on 3rd June at Kandawgyi Lake in Yangon. Other sessions were conducted in Inle, Bagan, and Chatrium Hotel in Yangon respectively.
