Tycoon Maung Weik released after two years of being detained

Chairman of the Mandalay Business Capital City Development and the Sae Paing Company, Maung Weik, publicly said that he’s back home on 29th June via his social network after being detained by the State Administration Council (SAC) for more than two years for briberies.
Maung Weik has been detained since 3rd February 2021 to 29th June 2023.
He confessed of providing bribery 110 lakh of kyats at the Naypyidaw Special Court on 23rd February 2022 in the court hearing of prosecuting Dr. Myo Aung, former Naypyidaw Mayor, for receiving bribes for NLD candidates in 2020 General Election.
Again, Maung Weik also admitted that he provided the former State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi 550,000 USD under the title of donation for Daw Khin Kyi Foundation. He made that confession statement at the Naypyidaw Special Court on 31st May 2022.
As a matter of fact, the tycoon Maung Weik was very close to the NLD government and officials within 2016 and 2020; and reportedly attained huge business projects.
As per information reported by the NP News, Maung Weik has been released from prison and has been house arrested since before February 2023. The reliable sources confirmed to NP News that they even got the phone contact with Maung Weik in early months of 2023.
