Myanmar looks to expand market for wooden products

The Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Khin Maung Yi urged to formulate both long-term and short-term plans to diversify the market both external and domestic for wooden finished products.

The Union Minister addressed it during the coordination meeting held at the Royal Hall of Myanmar Timber Enterprises Head Quarter in Insein, Yangon on July 1.

Since 1st January 2023, Myanmar has suspended exporting products with particle boards but started exporting unfinished products and finished products.

The Union Minister encouraged to development of strategic plans to systemically formulate short-term, medium-term, and long-term plans to seek more markets in both domestic and international spheres for wooden products.

The relevant authorities are managing the forest management for efficient and effective ways to make sure the sustainability of the forest resources of the country. In addition, only limited amounts of forest resources are allowed to use as forest preservation is prioritized.
