Yangon flooded due to successive rain

Torrential and successive rainfall in Yangon for three days makes flood in the city on 31st July in many townships.

The rainfall in Yangon for three consecutive days on previous Saturday, Sunday and Monday cause flooding in South Okkalapa, Thingangyun, South Dagon and North Dagon townships.

DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AND HYDROLOGY announced in recent days that low pressure area in Bay of Bengal is transforming into a strong low-pressure area; due to which torrential rain will fall in many places within next 24 hours.

Apart from Yangon, rain will fall in some places in Naypyidaw, Magway Region; in many places in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Kachin State and Northern Shan State; and heavy rain will fall in Yangon Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kayin State, Mon State, Bago Region and Rakhine State.
