Grand Opening Ceremony of Mara Vijaya Marble Buddha Image held

The Grand opening ceremony of Mara Vijaya Marble Buddha Image was held yesterday on 1st August on Waso Full Moon Day in Naypyidaw.

The Ceremony was held in Dekkhina Thiri township, Naypyidaw starting from 4:00 am to 11:00 am.

A total of 900 Sangas from both international and local Buddhist societies attended to recite Anaykaja for Mara Vijaya Mable Buddha Image.

What is more, family members along with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC), who is the leading guardian of building the Mara Vijaya Buddha statue, SAC members, military chiefs, entrepreneurs and donors also attended the ceremony.

After 900 Sangas reciting Anaykaja, the Marble Mara Vijaya Buddha Image was offered by colourful fireworks as the ceremony was done successfully.

The Mara Vijaya Buddha Image is a monumental statue in Myanmar, with aim of showcasing how far Theravada Buddhism is flourishing in the country to the world. The statue is expected to be the highest stone-sculptured sitting Marble Buddha image in the world.
