Myanmar reshuffles border affairs ministers for 5 regions

The State Administration Council of Myanmar replaced ministers for the Regional Ministry of Security and Border Affairs in five territories including Kachin State, Kayah State, Kayin State, Chin State and Mandalay Region.

The reshuffling announcement was made on Friday evening after the meeting of the members of the State Administration Council was conducted.

As per the announcement, the replacements involved Colonel Kyaw Thu Ya as the Minister for Kachin State Security and Border Affairs Ministry, Colonel Than Soe Aung as the Minister for Kayah State Security and Border Affairs Ministry, Colonel Min Thu Kyaw as the Minister for Kayin State Security and Border Affairs Ministry, Colonel Than Tun Aung as the Minister for Chin State Security and Border Affairs Ministry, and Colonel Nay Linn Soe as the Minister for Mandalay Region Security and Border Affairs Ministry.

It has been more than two years since the State Administration Council took office in Myanmar under the State of Emergency declaration.

There have been many local armed revolutionary groups in Myanmar since 2021, especially in Sagaing Region which is territorially connected with Kachin State; Kayah State; Kayin State; Chin State; and Magway Region territorially connected with Mandalay Region.
