Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chairman of the Central Committee for Myanmar Special Economic Zones, has advocated to promote the solar power system to supply the electricity to the Thilawa SEZ.

He discussed this matter at the coordination meeting held in Naypyidaw on January 10 for the central committee on Myanmar Special Economic Zones.

Vice-Senior General Soe Win announced that discussions regarding the power supply at the Thilawa SEZ have taken place with three companies, and similar discussions have also been held with the Ministry of Electric Power.

He emphasized that enabling Thilawa SEZ with solar power and a solar plant would allow the electricity generated to be distributed to other essential areas. Therefore, it is crucial to make efforts towards generating electricity within the Thilawa SEZ.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Senior General emphasized the importance of Thilawa SEZ in efficiently managing both existing and prospective investments, advocating for diverse approaches to attract new investments. He highlighted the need to implement a one-stop service system for all businesses within the SEZ.

Among the three economic zones that Myanmar is actively implementing, Thilawa SEZ has emerged as the most thriving.

Furthermore, he emphasized that all committee members should work towards the establishment of additional SEZs in the country, highlighting that Myanmar currently has a limited number of SEZs compared to other nations.
