75th Republic Day of India kicked off

The India Embassy in Myanmar commemorated 75th Anniversary of the country’s Republic Day at the India House located on Diplomatic Road in Dagon Township, Yangon.

The ceremony was held on January 26, 2024.

Diplomats and officials from the embassy communities in Myanmar including from Russia and China attended the ceremony.

In addition, U Soe Thein, Yangon Prime Minister including deputy minister and officials from Yangon Region Government attended to show honors and respect.

Furthermore, Myanmar merchants, entrepreneurs and businesses men also attended.

First of all, the ceremony was opened with the anthem of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the anthem of the Republic of India.

In the beginning of the celebration, H.E. Mr. Shri Vinay Kumar, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar made a welcome speech. Then, Indian culture groups entertained with traditional cultural dances and performances of India.

The bilateral relationship between India and Myanmar has been development and strengthened. Both countries are now also collaborating in multi sectors including technology and sending scholars.

The Republic Day of India is marked as the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950 and as replacing Government of India Act 1935 turning the nation from a dominion into a republic separate from British.
