Khit / Munich (NP News) – Jan 27

The patron of Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLO/PNLA) Colonel Khun Okkar reported that the PNLO does not sacrifice the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement and affirmed that there were armed clashes in Hsihseng Town, southern Shan State since the PDF terrorists invaded which causes complicated and complex in the region.

Col. Khun Okkar informed the abovementioned information to the NP News regarding to the clashes occurring in Hsihseng Town.

“Clashes were occurred due to the invasion of the PDF from the Karenni group. In fact, we don’t have other enemies. Police, Tatmadaw, and Pa-O people militia, they all aren’t our enemies. We’ve never initiated fighting them. However, when the PDF from the Karenni group invaded and threatened Hsihseng, we have to fight for and protect the people of Hsihseng,” he said.

He added that the PNLO/PNLA did not initiate shooting or raiding the security outposts in Hsihseng.

“We, the PNLO, did not start firing or raiding the security outposts. However, since we took footholds within the city, there were some complicated and complex situations like the PNLO took over the security outposts. That’s all. Again, there are many fake news and disinformation. The main problem makers are the PDFs from the Karenni area,” he said.

At present, the report states that surrounding areas of Hsihseng Town are controlled by the PNLA and negotiations are underway with the relevant authorities.

Colonel Khun Okkar repeated and stated that only the NCA is the path for negotiation in Myanmar and the PNLO will never give up the NCA.

“We cannot let the NCA ruined. The NCA is the only way for the peace, understanding, and mutual negotiation. If the NCA is destroyed, will we (the ethnics) all fight to each other forever? War isn’t the solution for the country. Only the NCA can bring negotiation for the peace. I just want to remind it. We won’t give up the NCA,” the Colonel Okkar said.

PNLO/PNLA is one of the ethnic armed organizations and also a NCA-signatory group that also attended the peace talks invited by the State Administration Council.

At present, clashes in Hsihseng Town are intensifying and the Tatmadaw also conducts the air operations.
