Myanmar is building its first factory of rice bran oil and cooking oil, capable of producing over 15,000 tons of crude cooking oil and edible oil annually.

It was announced via an official Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) Facebook page on 9 February.

Led by the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF), Myanmar Rice Bran Oil Co., Ltd (MRBO) will build its rice bran oil refinery project within the Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation (MAPCO) compound in Pyinmana Township, Naypyidaw.

The factory is expected to produce 15,300 tons of oil per year, comprising 9,000 tons of crude cooking oil and 6,300 tons of edible oil.

San Lin, President of the Myanmar Edible Oil Association (MEOA), stated in an interview with The Statesman Journal, "This factory will contribute to ensuring edible oil sufficiency for Myanmar. This will offer consumers access to high-quality, healthy oil."

It is reported that the factory will be Myanmar's first rice bran oil and refined facility, with the Rice Federation planning to further expand both bran oil and edible oil production.
