Khit / Munich (NP News) – Feb 15

New Mon State Party (NMSP), one of the NCA-signatory groups and the ethnic armed force that is currently joining the peace talk with the State Administration Council (SAC) has disagreed in paradigms to political approach.

The group led by the NMSP General Secretary Naing Zeyar and Deputy Chief of Staff Brigadier General Saloon Htaw announced on 14 February that they choose to fight against the Tatmadaw in cooperation with other armed organizations.

The group led by Naing Zeyar announced that the NMSP involved three-times in the peace talk with the SAC and proposed all-inclusiveness and federal principles to resolve the current political crisis. However, the expected outcomes are not attained.

The National Solidarity and Peace Negotiation Committee met with the seven NCA signatory EAOs on February 13 and the NMSP led by member of the central committee Naing Banyar Mon also attended the event.

In previous peace talks held by the SAC, the NMSP led by the Vice Chairman Naing Aung Min attended.

This discord of the NMSP happened in a month after the demise of the former chairman Naing Htaw Mon.

In addition, the NMSP used to be a member of the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) of the ethnic armed groups that signed the NCA.
