The reports stated that worries and concerns have risen among locals in Mogok since the TNLA insurgents abducted the civilians, as the alleged informers, who tried to escape from the town.
The TNLA launched an offensive military assault on the Mogok Township on 25 June as phase 2 of Operation 1027 and announced that they had taken control of the entire town on 24 July.
During the clashes, the TNLAs forced the residents to stay in the township so that they could use the civilians as human shields in the battles. The TNLAs also launched firing from the civilian houses, reports said.
It is also reported that the TNLAs are inspecting the personal belongings, especially, the phone handsets at the checkpoints located near Mogok.
“Now, they are inspecting our phones including the contact lists, messages, and other apps in the phones. We have to line up for inspection for one or two hours. If a person was listed in their suspected name lists, he/she is arrested. Personal ID registration numbers are also involved in their hit list,” a resident displaced from Mogok said.
In addition, Mogok residents are also worried that they will be accused of being informers (locally called “Dalan") and killed.
"They inspect the persons with the registration numbers at the gate and abduct the civilians. And even if you are not on their list, the neighbours can inform them of the wrong information. Therefore, civilians are very frightened," he added.
