According to the spokesperson of the State Administration Council Major General Zaw Min Tun, it is expected that Chinese government is providing more scholarship programs for Myanmar students in the upcoming future.

The high-level delegation led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited China from November 5 to 10. During the visit, they successfully strengthened and enhanced the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

The delegation led by Senior General engaged in discussions with Chinese leaders and party officials on collaborative efforts and investments that would bring benefits to Myanmar.

Major General Zaw Min Tun stated in a media briefing on November 10 at the airport in Naypyidaw that the visit included productive discussions on advancing the development and progress of Myanmar's social and economic sectors.

He stated, “In the education sector, China will continue to invite more scholars at both the regional and central levels. China will also continue to assist in the development and progress of Myanmar's social and economic life.”

At present, China offers a range of government scholarships for Myanmar, including the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), the Youth Excellent Scholarship (YES), and scholarships from the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM). These scholarships are available annually. The scholarship programs cover a wide range of fields such as education, management, public policy, international relations, economics, accounting, and law, providing significant support in enhancing the capabilities of Myanmar’s students.

It is learned that at least 500 Myanmar students are receiving scholarships and stipends under different programs provided by the Chinese government.

“There are at least 500 Myanmar students are being granted every year by the Chinese government under different types of programs. A total of 108 students from our agency have received scholars this year,” said the founder of Shwe Tun China Scholarship Consultant agency.

In addition, Maj Gen Zaw Min Tun remarked that the visit was considered a successful trip for the development and progress of Myanmar's social and economic life, as it included separate meetings with leaders from Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.
