Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, mentioned that domestic and foreign spoilers are using social media as a weapon to create mass between not only the government and the people, but also the people and the Tatmadaw, to divide and disrupt unity.
He delivered the speech on 6 December during the commissioning ceremony for the cadets from the 66th intake of the Defence Services Academy in Pyin-Oo-Lwin, Mandalay.
The SAC’s Chairman also said that at present, domestic and foreign sabotage groups are using social media as a weapon to create discord between the government and the people, as well as between the people and the Tatmadaw, and to disrupt unity.
In addition, they also create disruptions on unity and national sprit among the members of Tatmadaw intentionally, according to SAC Chairman.
He also urged that it is necessary to organize and strengthen unity within the Tatmadaw so that the Tatmadaw personnel will not be persuaded by false information that is being used to disintegrate the Tatmadaw and that their beliefs and convictions are not shaken by such false information when the Tatmadaw’s personnel focus on their respective units and duty.
In order to ensure unity within the Tatmadaw, he also urged the troops to carry out the orders and responsibilities that were assigned and to successfully carry out the four major army-building tasks that will be exercised daily through engagements.
The SAC Chairman continued that some opposition organizations and individuals are currently collaborating with the subversive media to distort the public's perception of the Tatmadaw and are circulating false information to tarnish Tatmadaw’s image.
Therefore, since such actions can have a serious impact not only on the Tatmadaw but also on the unity of the entire nation, it is urged that all citizens must consider the negative actions of opposing organizations and the subversive media and focus on organizing activities.
