Phyo/ Yoon (NP News) - Mar 4

According to the report made by a labor recruitment agency, over 50 Myanmar workers will be sent to Russia for the first time within the first week of March.
Currently, Russia is in high demand for workers and is recruiting workers from Myanmar, so it is said that 54 Myanmar workers will be sent as the first pilot project.

An official from the recruitment agency mentioned to The Statesman journal, "The people who are going are ready. They have been waiting for about a year. Their visas and flight tickets are already arranged, and they will depart in March. We added one more person who is fluent in the language to assist with communication difficulties, making it 54 people. There is a high demand for workers in Russia, especially in areas affected by the Ukraine war, where there is a need for construction. We will not send all 54 at once in the first week of March. The group will be split into two batches. The first 24 will depart initially, and the remaining 30 will leave in the second or third week. The reason for splitting the group is because the visa is not ready for all 54 at the same time."

The salaries will range from a minimum of $700 to $2,000, depending on skills.
He added that due to Russia's labour needs, nearly 500 Myanmar workers will be sent as part of the Pilot Project, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed between the two countries.

"The minister stated that we will initially send about 400 to 500 people as part of a pilot project. After that, we will sign an MOU. While carrying out the pilot project, the government is working on signing an MoU with each other. Russia's demand is for up to tens of thousands of workers. First, we will send around 400 to 500 people as part of the pilot project, and once that is done, we will sign the MoU. After that, there is a clear understanding that we will be able to send as many people as needed," he continued.

The accommodation, food, and airfare of the 54 workers currently being sent will be covered by Russia, but it is not a zero-cost trip as reported on social media.
The official said that the government is carefully scrutinizing the sending of Myanmar workers to Russia and that people should be careful about making statements without official government approval.

It is reported that according to age restriction made by Russia, workers are limited to those between the ages of 20 and 40. However, following international standards, experts are being recruited up to the age of 45.
