The abduction and killing of nine women, including a pregnant woman from Sakhar Village in Salingyi Township, Yinmabin District, Sagaing Region, by the Yinmabin District PDF Battalion and its village-level administration groups has become widely known on social media, particularly on Facebook.
This incident has become just another typical case of the PDF's infamous massacres.
On July 2, 2023, at around 8 pm, the villagers were ordered to turn off the lights and threatened to shoot them dead if they did not comply. They abducted and killed Ma Chit Chit Win (45), Ma Yin Yin Khaing (37), Ma Khaing Yin Mon (35), Ma Zar Zar Win Soe (45), Ma Than Lar (37), Ma Moe Myint Thu (33), Daw San Lwin (60), Daw Maw (49), and Ma Thandar Win (36), according to the report.
The nine women were all employees of the Salingyi Tatmadaw Textile and Garment Factory, and one of those arrested, Ma Yin Yin Khaing, was four months pregnant at the time.
A witness told local media that she had seen the PDF members dismembering captured women, cutting their throats, and burying them in a pit.
The incident has drawn criticism after it was shared online, along with photos of the victims when they were alive, and local residents are demanding the truth be revealed, according to comments posted on the site.
A local resident from Monywa, Sagaing Region, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the PDFs are killing people they do not trust by making up various excuses.
“In Sagaing Region, they are killing civilians. They are arresting and executing people who disagree with them. They are killing individuals and groups,” he said.
