Hsu/Pearl (NP News) - October 1

Over 200 male workers from Myanmar will be sent to Russia next month, according to sources close to Russian employment agencies.
In March and April of this year, 54 Myanmar workers were sent to Russia for the first time as part of a pilot program. It's also reported that training, including language courses, is being provided in preparation for sending female workers in the future.
"We also visit the workers there about once every three months to help solve their difficulties. To be honest, not everything runs smoothly. There are some minor issues, but overall, they are doing fine in their jobs," said a source close to Russian employment agencies to The Statesman journal.
In addition, another 220 male workers are due to be sent to Russia next month. They are currently waiting for their visas to be approved, after which they will be sent in groups.
"There are plans to send more male workers in the coming days. Only male workers will be included in the second batch. As for women, their applications are still under review and have not yet been approved. The men are currently waiting for their visas. In total, there are 220 of them. They will be sent in groups based on visa approvals, with about 10 workers departing per round. Once their visas are issued and flight tickets are purchased, they can leave. Over 200 workers are planned to be sent within one or two months, in separate groups," he continued.
Although official labor deployment to Russia is ongoing, it's believed that around 100 Myanmar workers are currently working illegally in Russia.
Therefore, relevant embassies and ministries have been urged to investigate and address such illegal employment, which could impact relations between Myanmar and Russia.
"We are aware that some people are leaving illegally. Since this can harm bilateral relations, I would like to urge embassies and ministries to cooperate and address the illegal workers' issue. If someone encounters problems after entering the country illegally, authorities cannot assist them through official channels. Protecting the rights of illegal workers is extremely difficult," he further stated.
