Total foreigners arrested in Shwe Kokko scam hub crackdown rise to 1,016

A further 405 foreigners were arrested on November 20, the third day of the investigation in the Shwe Kokko area, bringing the total number of foreigners arrested to 1,016, all of whom are being held in Shwe Kokko Myaing Village.
The crackdown in the Shwe Kokko area began on November 18 and continued for the third day on November 20. It was reported that equipment used for cyber fraud was found and seized in six buildings constructed without permission.
Searches and inspections were carried out in the Shwe Kokko area to identify illegal residents. During the operation, authorities apprehended a total of 405 individuals who attempted to flee at various junctions and checkpoints. The detainees included three Vietnamese nationals, 23 Kenyans, 85 Ethiopians, one Namibian, 168 Indonesians, 15 Ugandans, 10 Nepalis, 43 Indians, one Zimbabwean, 13 Filipinos, 21 Pakistanis, four Bangladeshis, three Sierra Leoneans, one Liberian, seven Nigerians, one Egyptian, one Sri Lankan, two Kazakh nationals, and three Uzbeks.
The total clearance operations in the Shwe Kokko area resulted in the arrest of 1,016 foreigners illegally residing in Myanmar, and seizure of 2,653 computers, 21,750 mobile phones, and many business equipment used in online gambling. These clearance operations remain ongoing.
The 1,016 foreign nationals apprehended have been detained at a secured compound in Shwe Kokko Myaing Village, Pulwepu Village Tract, Myawaddy Township. So far, the Illegal Foreign Nationals Screening Team has completed screening for 600 individuals. The relevant departmental coordination teams are currently collecting the necessary personal information and records in order to facilitate their swift repatriation to their respective countries. –
