EAOs call for ASEAN envoy’s facilitation for holding political dialogues after ending terror acts

Myanmar’s pro-peace ethnic armed forces revealed their demands to facilitate by the ASEAN Special Envoy for holding the political dialogue which contains all stakeholders that should be involved after ending terror acts.

Prak Sokhonn, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)'s special envoy to Myanmar met with high delegation representatives of seven EAOs which attended the peace talk invited by the Army Chief including ALP, DKBA, KNU/KNLA –PC, PNLO, LDU, NMSP, and RCSS to discuss peace progress today (July 1) in Naypyidaw.

RCSS (Restoration Council of Shan State) discussed having a compromise between Tatmadaw and EAOs to have a political concurrence, negotiating between Tatmadaw, EAOs, and political parties for having federal-based principle so as to practice power-sharing, and transforming political and executive systems by amending the 2008 Constitution based on the agreed federal values.

During the meeting with the EAOs’ delegations, Prak Sokhonn pledged to assist in cease firing, reaching humanitarian aid to those who really need the aid, and achieving political talks, according to the statement by Peace Process Steering Team.
