Buddhist monk brutally beheaded in Pauk, Magwe Region

A venerable Buddhist monk from Sasana Wun Tha Monastery located in Daungthar Village, Pauk Township of Magwe Region was brutally beheaded on July 3, according to announced released by State Administration Council.

On July 2 at 1 pm, Sayardaw Bhaddanta Pawara, 59-year old with 12 years of monkhood, riding the motorbike alone heading to Lel Lan Village from Daungthar Village was stopped by terrorists.

Terrorists abducted Sayardaw after they brought him to Kyarpyitkan Village. Sayardaw was brutally killed on July 3 at 9 am.

Authorities are investigating the incident to seize the terrorists in line with security procedures, the announcement said.

A total of 50 Buddhist monks and one nun were murdered by terrorists between 2021 and mid-2022.
