NP News - July 6
Party scrutinizing process on Shan National League for Democracy (SNLD) was carried out in Taunggyi after a negotiation was made between the SNLD and the Union Election Commission (UEC).

Scrutinizing was conducted by the UEC’s audit team led by the UEC members Than Soe and Min Min Oo at the sub-commission office located in Taunggyi from June 30 to July 3.

“We didn’t deny to be scrutinized. We said them to come to our headquarters to do it. They summoned us to be audited. In fact, we weren’t convenient to go there. Finally, we agreed to carry on the process in Taunggyi,” Joint Secretary 1 of the SNLD Sai Kyaw Nyunt said.

UEC announced scrutinizing on numbers of the party members, party’s funds and other assets, accounts, expenditures, clearing accounts, and party activities.

Accepting an audit doesn’t mean the party’s stance has been changed and is not related to the election, added Sai Kyaw Nyunt. However, the SNLD prioritizes maintaining its legal status as it agreed to be scrutinized.

UEC informed the SNLD of its final notification of summoning to be audited by June 30 as the latter failed to perform before.

A total of 85 political parties have finished scrutinized by the UEC since August 2021. Seven parties including National League for Democracy still remain to go under scrutiny.
