A seven-year-old child was hit and killed on July 9 at an estimated 11:30 pm in Launglon, Dawei District in shooting ‘Dalan’ (alleged informer), according to a statement released by a local organization known as Democratic Movement Protest Committee – DMPC (Dawei District).

The incident took place when local PDF members entered the house of the target ‘Kyaw Hein’ alleging as ‘informer/Dalan’ and raided gun violence in the house. The target ‘Kyaw Hein’ escaped but his wife (40 years old) Phyu Than and the niece (7 years old) Ngu Wah Noe were hit in the shooting. The child died from gun injury, the DMPC’s statement said.

Villagers tried to send the young victim to the hospital by ambulance but were hindered by the authorities. The girl was dead as result, according to the statement.

The child was taking shelter at her aunt’s home since her parents were reportedly hiding as they were assaulted by the military and Pyu-saw-htee members, the statement said.

The Launglon PDF admitted its members involved in the shooting to the DMPC. The DMPC continues investigating the incident as stated in its statement.
