It has been reported that the Immigration Department of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar will relieve in rules of the visa processes for the ASEAN nations except Malaysia and Timor-Leste.

Visitors who hold the passports of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will be granted the visa exemption starting from September 1, 2022.

Airlines have been officially directed this order by the Immigration Airport Department. That will be announced to the public soon from the Immigration website, an officer from the aviation industry said.

However, the visa exemption that liberalized by Myanmar this time won’t be effective to those who hold the Malaysian passport. For Malaysia, visa must be applied even if the person is holding its Diplomatic passport, the officer said.

Limitations and temporary suspensions in flight schedules and visa processes entering Myanmar were made since March 23, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Business e-visa has been re-issued since April 1, 2022. International flight schedules have also been allowed since April 17, 2022 for both departure and arrival at the Yangon International Airport.
