White Tiger Party requests non-government bodies to ease in troop recruitment and extortion

The White Tiger Party also known as Shan National Democratic Party (SNDP) urged the relevant non-governmental and ethnic armed organizations to conduct reviewing and reduce their policies in troop recruitment and extortion the money in the territory, especially in this economic hardship period.
The SNDP released a press statement on September 2 in which it made a request to the respective organizations.
Currently, the country is suffering and fighting amid economic shocks as the result of impacts from international and domestic moves, and the Covid-19 pandemic; therefore, the public is struggling with their living in socio-economic decline, the statement said.
The party also notified that the country is facing a huge brain drain of its ethnics due to economic decline, job scarcity, the rise of armed conflicts, flee from the civil war, and ethnic armed forces’ troop recruitment and extortion policies.
The White Tiger Party remarks that it will make worsening the country’s economy; and also political goals of the relevant people-centered organizations won’t be attained.
Therefore, the party requested and urged to ease or reconsider recruitment and extortion policies of the armed groups since those and armed conflicts make burdens to the public. The party also urged to conduct political talks to formulate the culture of political dialogue.
The SNDP’s chairman Sai Aik Pao takes a leading role in the UPDJC’s group of political parties. The group also meets and discusses with the coordination committee led by Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae of the State Administration Council.
