Kyaukphyu waste heat power plant expected to function in January

The waste heat power plant project in Kyaukphyu invested by China-based Power China Resources is expected to commence functioning in the upcoming January with potential production of 135 MW.
The ceremony of commencement of the functioning of the turbine generator of the Kyaukphy heat power plant was held on October 10; His Excellency Mr. Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar attended the event.
His Excellency said that China is actively helping Myanmar in resolving the country’s electricity needs.
The investment commission granted the approval for the development of the power plant in January 2020.
At least 90 percent of the machine and equipment used in the power plant is from China, said Mr. Chen Hai continuing that capacity to function the first turbine generation earlier than expected is the result of good cooperation between Myanmar and China.
