The Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) of the NCA signatory EAOs said that the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement is the forefront of the current political game to terminate the ongoing armed and violent conflicts so that internal peace can be restored.
The PPST includes the aforementioned information in its statement for the 7th anniversary of the NCA signing ceremony which will be fall tomorrow (October 15).
The government, Hluttaw, Tatmadaw, and eight ethnic armed forces signed the NCA on 15th October 2015 before the presence of international witnesses.
On 3rd February 2018, New Mon State Party and Lahu Democratic Union joined in the NCA agreement and signed the NCA.
The PPST is making efforts to tackle the current political crisis by executing three basic principles of the NCA: all-inclusiveness in political talks, using political means in resolving the political dilemma, and protection of civilians, the PPST declared.
Likewise, the Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pledged to continue formulation of the peace process in accord with the terms and provisions of the NCA and 2008 Constitution.
The Union Peace Conference was held four times after the emergence of the NCA and parts 1, 2, and 3 of the Union Accord were signed and ratified by Hluttaws.
