Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing describes amending parts of the Constitution that should be amended for the beneficiary of ethnic rights.
He addressed this message during his speech on the 7th Anniversary of signing the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement which falls today (October 15).
He stressed to grant the right to legislation power separately to Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw as a part of the constitutional amendment.
“Right to legislation should be granted separately at Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw not only by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw so that the Pyithu Hluttaw which has more seats of the constituencies from the mainland (Burmese majority) won’t be able to influence on the proposals discussed by the Amyotha Hluttaw which actually has more numbers of representatives from the ethnic regions,” said the Army Chief.
He continued, “For such cases, the Constitution has to be amended. Only then, could we share equal rights among the ethnics.”
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the SAC delegation team discussed with ten EAOs for internal peace for two-time since May 2022 as the year 2022 is regarded as the peace year by the State.
