UEC starts designating polling stations in Naypyidaw council territory for upcoming election

More than 2,000 polling stations and their locations have been designated in Naypyidaw and surrounding townships by the Union Election Commission for the upcoming 2023 election.
There were 39,962 polling stations across the country in the 2020 general election.
The State Administration Council (SAC) has already declared to hold the General Election in 2023 to return the country’s power to the elected parliament.
Currently, the UEC has conducted preparation and verification process of the preliminary voter lists with the ground census.
Currently, according to the data and statistics from Union Election Commission, The UEC temporarily designated 635 polling stations in Ottarathiri and Dekhina Thiri districts in Naypyidaw Council Territory.
In addition, the UEC designated 1,054 polling stations in Pyapon district and 948 polling stations in Maupin district in Ayeyarwady Region.
Approximately 2,655 polling stations currently have been designated and necessary procedures are being conducted to be able to designate the polling stations throughout the other states and regions.
The UEC recently called tender invitation for purchasing election supplies and voting equipment.
The upcoming election will be convened under Proportional Representation (PR) system, the UEC declared.
